When was the last time you failed? If it wasn't within the past week, you probably aren't pushing yourself enough. Right now I'm shooting for 100 rejections this year, inspired by this post.
In my first drawing class at college, my professor, Archie Rand assigned 100 drawings in two days. This assignment forced us to forgo perfection and just create. Yes, 90 of those drawings were horrible, but the carefree lines in the other 10 were better than anything I had done to that point.
I love this quote from Thomas J. Watson (former IBM CEO considered the world's greatest salesman): "If you want to increase your success rate, double your failure rate."
What would your life look like if you doubled your failure rate? Would you put yourself up for more promotions, lift heavier weights at the gym, or try to get that book deal?
Leave your ego at the door and just start. Let's both get 100 rejections this year.
