Stop Using 'But'

Updated: Aug 23, 2018

Catch yourself. Are you limiting your potential with language? My coach has banned me from using 'should' because I was constantly judging myself through it.

My challenge to you: Stop using 'but.' It negates and makes impossible everything that comes before it. You want to be opening up opportunities for yourself, not closing!

Try this simple exercise: Take any of your excuses and replace BUT with AND.

'I want to exercise, BUT I have no time' --> 'I want to exercise, AND I have no time'

Now instead of feeling defeated, you can brainstorm work arounds: Efficient workouts (like this 7 minute workout) or ways to multi-task (like walking meetings or doing squats while you brush your teeth).

Don't limit yourself. Email over your biggest BUTs, and I'll help you think of new possibilities.

You've got this!
