As a working mom with so many people counting on you, it's hard to say that all important word - No. But, we all know we need to do it more.
As Warren Buffet said, "The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say no to almost everything."
Let's up your mental game around protecting your time:
Understand your motivation. Is saying 'yes' more about your need to be liked versus upholding your specific values?
Remember your ultimate goals. Will saying ‘yes’ to this prevent you from doing what you care about really well? Saying 'Yes' to something means saying 'No' to something else.
Trust that the right people will support you. Stop worrying about how people will react and know that the people who truly love you want you to be authentic, purposeful and happy.
Pretend you were advising someone else. If a friend came to you in the same position, what would you recommend?
Would you reshuffle your schedule to do this tomorrow? If not, it's probably not worth prioritizing in the future either.
Don't say 'Yes' unless it's a 'Hell, yes.' You want to save your energy for the things that truly excite you.
So today, think through some things that you want to say, 'No' to. Tomorrow we'll walk through tips on how.
