If you are like me, you spend a considerable part of your working day in front of a computer. Here are two super tactical hacks to save thousands of seconds this year.
Learn email shortcuts. People estimate that learning keyboard shortcuts can save you 15 minutes a day or 60 hours a year. I still found it hard to remember to use these basic commands. Enter KeyRocket - a Chrome extension that sends a small pop-up every time you navigate within Gmail, telling you which shortcut would have worked faster. After a few weeks, it's clicked!
Set-up search engine shortcuts. I'm continually searching within sites -- Amazon, Evernote, LinkedIn, and Gmail. I've set up shortcuts within Chrome so that I can just type "a" and my search term into the address bar, and it automatically searches Amazon ('e' for Evernote, 'l' for LinkedIn, etc.). I'd estimate this saves me 10 minutes a day or 40 hours a year. Instructions here.
Spend the 10 minutes setting this up and become a keyboard ninja.
