Why Taco Tuesdays Are the Best

Updated: Feb 19, 2019

The average person makes around 35,000 decisions every day - everything from what to wear to what to eat.   As a mom, it's probably even more because you are also deciding what your kids wear and eat.

I'm always looking for ways to cut decisions out of my life, which is why I love standardization -- adding routines and formulas into your life. Here are some examples:

  • Weekly meal formulas. Take the stress out of meal planning by working off a formula for your week: For example, Asian on Monday, tacos on Tuesdays, and burgers on Wednesday. This can also be done by protein. More ideas here.

  • Standing social events. My close mom group in NYC had a Friday happy hour where we'd rotate bringing wine to one of our houses. With no real planning, I was able to see my closest friends regularly. Other ideas: book clubs, running groups or standing playground meet-ups.

  • Mommy's night out. Designate one night a week as Mommy's night out where either you have a standing sitter or your husband has kid-duty. Then you can schedule your friend dinners, work events, etc. without having to book separate childcare.

  • Weekly work formulas. I designate certain days of the week for specific tasks to ensure I'm progressing all of my goals each week and protecting time for deep work. For example, I write most of these emails on Thursday mornings and do most of my deep program design on Mondays.

What have you standardized in your life? I'd love more ideas!
